Smooth Orange  Milkweed

Asclepias lanceolata

Smooth orange milkweed is ranked S2, state threatened in New Jersey. This plant is found on the coastal strip, where salt meadows join the mainland. In some places it is also found in wet pine woods. Its brilliant red and orange flowers are larger than our other milkweed species. Sometimes called Few-flowered milkweed, it does not have as many flowers as other milkweeds. It is one of our prettiest milkweeds.
