Formerly known as Breweria pickeringii, this plant is S1, state
endangered. Witmer Stone, in The Plants of Southern New Jersey, says
this:
"Confined to dry sandy banks in the Pine Barrens, where it is known from probably not more than three or four stations....
Named for Charles Pickering (1805-1878), a prominent Philadelphia
naturalist, member of Wilkes Exploring Expedition, and prominent in local
botanical work. Flowers Mid-July to late August (Stone, 652-653).
