Swamp pink is state ranked S3, state endangered, and is federally threatened.

The S3 ranking would seem to indicate it is not as rare as its state endangered ranking; however, that is because New Jersey is the global stronghold for this plant. New Jersey is home to approximately seventy percent of the global population of swamp pink.

Swamp pink is a member of the lily family, and one of the earliest spring flowers to appear.

It flowers in early April to mid-May.
